Privacy notice

We provide this English version for your convenience. As LabSentinels is based in Austria, the German version is the legally binding one. Read the German version

Protecting your personal data matters to us. In line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG), this notice explains which data is processed when you visit this website. This website deliberately collects as little as possible: it sets no cookies – neither its own nor anyone else’s – and uses no advertising or tracking networks. The only thing we count is which devices attract interest here; without your consent this is done anonymously, without any identifier (point 6).

2.Hosting & server log files

This website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, and delivered through its European data centres. When you open a page, the hosting provider automatically processes technical access data that your browser sends, in server log files: IP address, date and time of access, the page requested, referrer URL, and browser type and operating system.

This processing is based on our legitimate interest in running the website securely and reliably (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We have a data processing agreement with the hosting provider under Art. 28 GDPR; any transfer to third countries is covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. For details, see cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

3.Fonts & design elements

The fonts used are built into the website and delivered from our own server (self-hosting). No connections are made to third-party servers (such as Google Fonts), and no IP addresses are passed on to third parties.

4.Cookies & local storage

This website sets no cookies at all – neither its own nor third-party ones, and none for tracking, analytics or marketing. The audience measurement described in point 5 works without cookies; services such as Google Analytics are not used.

The interactive savings calculator (Quick-Check) stores your entries only locally in your browser (localStorage), so that your choices are still there when you come back. This data stays on your device, is not sent to us or to third parties, and you can delete it at any time in your browser settings.

If you use the shortlist, that selection also stays in your browser only – together with the details you enter for your enquiry: organisation, contact person, phone number and your comments. This way nothing is lost when you move between pages. There is no account, and nothing is sent to us: the list only leaves your device when you create an email from it and send it yourself.

Your browser also notes locally which videos on this website it has already loaded in full – only the file name and the time are stored. A film that is already in your cache then starts straight away on your next visit, instead of waiting behind a play button. This information does not leave your device either.

The same purely local storage is used for three small settings: whether you chose the light or dark view, which language you chose for this website, and whether a slider shows units or percent.

All the information mentioned so far is strictly necessary for the functions you use and therefore does not require consent (§ 165(3) of the Austrian Telecommunications Act 2021, TKG). Also without consent, your browser records your answer to the question in point 6 – that is, whether or not you agreed to the measurement described there, with the date. Without this record we would have to ask you again on every page. It is valid for twelve months; after that we ask once more.

5.Audience measurement (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

To analyse how this website is used, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a service of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Only aggregated information is collected, such as pages viewed, referrer URL, country, browser and device type, and technical loading times.

The service works without cookies and without storing data on your device. No personal profiles are created, you are not recognised across websites or visits, and your IP address is not stored. This means we cannot identify individual people.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a statistical analysis of website use so that we can shape our offer to what people need (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We have a data processing agreement with Cloudflare under Art. 28 GDPR; the transfer to third countries is covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. For details, see cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

6.Measuring your interest

We count which of the devices shown here attract interest. Four things are recorded: that a product card was visible on your screen, that you opened the details, a film or the 3D view for a device, that you added a device to the shortlist, and that you used the savings calculator. Each of these four things counts once per visit – so the figures tell us how many visits there were, not how often someone clicked. How we count depends on your answer in the notice window.

Without your consent, that is if you decline or do not answer, we only count anonymously: our counter receives nothing but which of the four things happened for which device, without any identifier and without the page you were on. Nothing is stored on your device for this, and the counter only increases a daily total. This cannot be linked to you or to your other visits. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing which parts of our offer people are interested in (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

With your consent, your browser additionally stores a randomly generated identifier. It consists of letters and numbers, contains no information about you and has a single purpose: to recognise a returning visit as such. A second identifier, also random, exists only in memory for the length of your visit and is not stored anywhere.

Not recorded are your IP address, any browser or device identifier, the order of your clicks, the time to the minute, and anything you enter in the savings calculator or in input fields. What is stored is daily totals per device and, with your consent, also four counters per visit – no movement profile.

The legal basis for the identifier and for counting with it is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 165(3) TKG 2021). You can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future, using the switch at the bottom of every page. This deletes the identifier on your device, and from that moment we only count anonymously as described above. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it. Either way, the website remains fully available to you, unchanged.

The counting runs on our own server at zaehler.labsentinels.com; no other provider is involved. Like the website itself, it is operated at Cloudflare – what is said in point 2 applies (data processing agreement, standard contractual clauses). Visit-level records, which only exist with your consent, are deleted automatically after 14 months; the combined daily totals cannot be linked to any person and are kept.

7.3D view in your room (camera)

On the solution pages, some devices can be viewed true to scale in your own room using the camera of your mobile device (button “View in your room”). This view does not run in this website but in a function of your operating system – Apple’s AR Quick Look on iPhone and iPad, Google Scene Viewer on Android devices. This website gets no access to your camera, and nothing is recorded; the camera image does not leave your device.

Only the model file is loaded from our server; the same server log files are created as described in point 2. On Android devices, Google applications installed on your device open the view (the Google app, and for the camera display also “Google Play Services for AR”) – Google’s terms apply to their data processing. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in presenting our services); the view only starts when you tap the button.

8.Contacting us

If you get in touch using the buttons provided, your own email app opens with a pre-filled message to us; no form data is sent to a server. If you contact us by email or phone, we process the information you give us (e.g. name, contact details, content of your enquiry) solely to deal with your request.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (steps prior to entering into a contract) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering your enquiry). The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer needed for this purpose and no statutory retention periods apply.

9.Sharing of data

Your data is not passed on to third parties – except to the hosting provider named in point 2 and the provider of the audience measurement named in point 5, in each case under a data processing agreement, and where we are required to by law.

10.Your rights

You have the following rights towards the controller regarding your personal data: the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR). You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future.

An informal message to office@labsentinels.com is enough to exercise these rights.

11.Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

Without prejudice to any other remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Austria this is the Austrian Data Protection Authority, Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at.
